Feeding

Persian cat nutrition is very important, as this centuries-old cat was raised by noble families so it was hard, not for anything to eat. In addition, a beautiful Persian cat must chubby, cheeks, round face, … so have a reasonable diet to keep weight without obesity.

How should you feed the Persian cat?

Persian cats under 1 month old should only breastfeed because the cat’s digestive system is not good and no teeth to chew.

  • Starting at 1 to 2 months, start your meal with diluted porridge mixed with plenty of pureed minced meat. Cats are stronger than you can reduce the dilution of food. The daily feed volume for cats at this age ranges from 25 to 40 g / day, divided into five meals for easy absorption.
  • Kittens 2-4 months old. At this time was quite hard, just give 3 meals per day, with a volume of 40 – 65g. This time you can start training cats to eat packaged dry foods, as you do not always have time to cook for yourself.
  • Cats 4 months or older. At this time it was considered as a missed opportunity, only feeding two meals a day with a weight of 60-80g for cats weighing less than 3kg, and 80-130g for cats weighing over 3kg.

What does the Persian cat eat?

Ready-to-eat foods are fast-paced and clean, and you do not always have the time to cook for the fussy cat. However not all foods are good, you should choose Royal Canin food – pet food used by many big cats in the world.

Royal Canin classifies a variety of foods to suit the needs of cats at each age. Cats from 2 to 4 months can feed Royal Canin Mother and Baby Cat. 4-8 months – Royal Canin Kitten. And over 8 months – Royal Canin 27 Indoor and 32. In addition to the dry food mentioned above, can be used wet food such as Royal Canin’s wet pate.

Fresh food is also essential. You should feed Persian cats with fresh food as much as possible, at least 2 days of having a fresh meal, to increase flavor, avoid boredom. Prepared foods should only be used when “fighting off”. Cats are predators, and their diets must have a lot of meat. They like beef, more popular than chicken or fish. Limit your intake of pork because of high fat pork, but visceral organs like liver, heart, oval, brain are good. Avoid eating meat or live organ, so boiling over boiling water. It is also necessary to eat a little more rice (porridge is better), and vegetables (puree better) to add vitamins and increase resistance.

Persian cats hair care

Long hair is always the most attractive of  Persian cats (long-haired cats), so you need to brush the hair almost daily, rather strenuous. This cat also sheds a lot of hair so it will not be suitable for you to enjoy clean. With long feathered Persian, you should bathe them monthly with cat shampoo to keep your hairs soft and prevent loss.

Short-feathered Persian cats have much simpler fur care. Just brush groom once a week to remove hair loss. They are also cleaner and less shedding than the long-haired ones, so shower them only once every few months. It is also necessary to prune the hairs too long to keep them neat, always well rounded.

Persian cats health care

Persian cats (both short-haired and long-haired) have many health problems. The most common respiratory difficulty is due to their small nose, the face should be less breathing. You should not put them in too dusty, or where they are too hot and tight because they can be stuffy by their own hair loss. Wipe their nose daily to avoid asphyxia.

Persian cats are often teary eyelids due to their eyelids, bristles on the cornea. Tears flowed so much that the hairs under the eyes were dirty and looked dirty. You need to wipe your face and clean your eyes daily with a moist cloth to avoid eye pain. Brushing your teeth every week, or twice a week, is essential to prevent dental disease.

Polycystic kidney disease. This is a dangerous genetic disease in cats, there is a high rate of Persian kittens suffering from this disease. If your cat is infected, it is very difficult to cure and cost is very expensive. The only way to do this is to buy Persian cats from big camps (like SheryDolls or Dorecat), as cats have been tested for new diseases. Persian kittens at large farms will outstrip many undocumented cats, but reduce the risk of disease.
